Klein La Rochelle (“we”, “us”, “the farm”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through kleinlarochelle.co.za, why we collect it, and how we look after it. It applies to visitors browsing the site and to customers who place an order.

1. Information we collect

When you browse the site, we may automatically collect basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and pages viewed, through cookies and standard analytics tools.

When you place an order, we collect:

  • Name and surname
  • Delivery and billing address
  • Email address and phone number
  • Order details (products, quantities, order value)
  • Payment confirmation (see Section 3 – we do not see or store your card details)

If you contact us directly (email, contact form, or phone), we keep a record of that correspondence to respond to you and for our own records.

2. Why we collect it

  • To process and deliver your order
  • To send you order confirmations and delivery updates
  • To respond to enquiries or support requests
  • To meet legal and accounting requirements (e.g. invoices, tax records)
  • To improve the site based on how it’s used

We do not use your information for anything beyond running the farm’s shop and communicating with you about your order. We do not sell your information to third parties.

3. Payments

Payments are processed securely by Payfast, a licensed South African payment gateway. When you check out, your card or banking details are entered directly into Payfast’s secure payment page – Klein La Rochelle never sees or stores your card number, expiry date, or CVV. Payfast only shares confirmation of successful payment with us, along with the order reference and amount paid.

Payfast’s own privacy policy governs how they handle your payment details, and can be found on their website.

4. Cookies

The site uses cookies to keep your shopping basket working as you browse, and may use analytics cookies (e.g. Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use the site. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though the basket and checkout may not work properly without them.

5. Who we share information with

We only share personal information with third parties where necessary to run the shop:

  • Payfast – to process payment
  • Courier or delivery service – to deliver your order
  • Hosting and website service providers – to keep the site running

These providers only receive the information they need to do their job, and are not permitted to use it for any other purpose.

6. How long we keep your information

We keep order and customer information for as long as needed to fulfil orders, meet accounting and tax obligations, and handle any warranty or support queries – generally five years, in line with standard South African record-keeping requirements. You can ask us to delete personal information that we’re not legally required to keep.

7. Your rights

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to correct it if it’s wrong, or to ask us to delete it (subject to our legal obligations, e.g. invoices). To do so, contact us using the details below.

8. Keeping your information safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information, including using a reputable hosting provider and a secure (HTTPS) connection on all pages, and by relying on Payfast for secure payment handling rather than storing payment details ourselves.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we change service providers or add new features to the site. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
